Kathleen M. Baxley, MHA, MBA, LICSW, LCSW
Biosketch
Ms. Kathleen M. Baxley is chief of the Clinical Center's Department of Social Work, overseeing inpatient and outpatient social work care, the Language Interpreter Program, and the Clinical Center's volunteer program.
Ms. Baxley has served in the public sector since 1994. Prior to joining NIH in September 2015, she worked in community mental health with adults, adolescents and children, in child maltreatment and intimate partner violence agencies, in early intervention with children ages birth through three and in medical social work with pediatric, adolescent and adult patients and their families. She served as a social worker with the Department of Defense from 2001-2015, culminating with her position as the Deputy Chief of the Social Work Department at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in 2010.
Ms. Baxley received her Master of Social Work Degree from the University of Pittsburgh in 1997, and Masters' Degrees in Healthcare Administration and Business Administration from the University of Maryland.
Ms. Baxley has had a career-long interest in mentoring and teaching future social workers. She has served as a field instructor with various Universities for students at the Bachelor and Master level of social work education.
