Alex Azar, secretary of U.S. Health and Human Services, makes first official visit to NIH in March

On March 20, escorted by NIH Director Dr. Francis Collins (left), U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar (second from right) met with Clinical Center patient Dr. Patrick Coughlin (center), his wife Elizabeth Coughlin and Dr. Steven Rosenberg (right) with the National Cancer Institute (NCI), during his first official visit to NIH. He also spoke with NIH staff at a Town Hall event in Masur Auditorium. Additionally, while in the Clinical Center, Azar learned about the latest NCI research in immunotherapy and received an update on NIH research efforts to combat the opioid crisis from the National Institute on Drug Abuse and the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health.
