CC celebrates International Interpreters and Translators Day

On Sept. 30, International Interpreters and Translators Day, the Clinical Center honored the work of its excellent and dedicated Language Interpreters Program. The Clinical Center Social Work Department, Language Interpreters Program provides linguistic services to Limited English Proficient patients and families in over 60 languages. In Fiscal Year 2019 the department provided over 10,724 hours of interpretation with 5,425 hours of Spanish alone. Recognizing that communication is a matter of patient safety, the department proudly serves the linguistic and cultural needs of Limited English Proficient patients and supports their participation in research.
