Newly Developed Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI)

Healthy Volunteers Needed

Researchers at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) seek healthy volunteers to participate in a research study. The purpose of this study is to test newly developed functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI) scanning sequences that can be used in future protocols. Participation involves up to 3 separate outpatient visits involving fMRI scans lasting about two hours on each day. Subjects may participate in up to 3 sub-studies per day. All study-related tests and procedures are provided at no cost. Participants will be compensated.

You may be eligible if you:

  • Are 18 or older
  • Are healthy
  • Have the ability to provide your own written informed consent

You may not be eligible if you:

  • Are not able to receive an MRI (E.g., metal within your body, claustrophobia, inability to lay flat on your back)
  • Are pregnant or breast-feeding
  • Have, or have had a serious psychiatric illness
  • Are currently taking psychoactive drugs such as Celexa™, Prozac™, Wellbutrin™, Zoloft™, and/or stimulants other than caffeine such as Adderall™, Dexedrine™ and Ritalin™.
  • Have a history of alcoholism or drug abuse

Location: The NIH Clinical Center, America's research hospital, is located on the Metro red line (Medical Center stop) in Bethesda, Maryland.
