Call Center Staff

For Patient Room Service or food-related concerns, our Call Center personnel can assist daily from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and can be reached at the patient room service number 301-451-3663.

Clinical and Metabolic Research Dietitians

Clinical and Metabolic Research Dietitians are assigned to cover patient care units and protocols related to their individual areas of expertise. Clinical research dietitians are available on-site Monday through Saturday and as needed on Sundays. To obtain clinical services, please contact the on-call dietitian through the Page Operator at 301-496-1211. Requests for nutrition assessment, evaluation, or education can also be ordered by prescribers through the Clinical Research Information System (CRIS).

Our Clinical Research Dietitians are:

  • Donna Barnett, MA, RD, CNSC
    Donna provides clinical and research nutrition services for patients with lymphomas and HIV/AIDS related malignancies, and for patients with Alcohol Use Disorder. Her other interests include pediatrics, gastrointestinal disorders, and information technology.
     
  • Rachel Bloom, RD, CSO
    Rachel provides clinical and research nutrition services for pediatric patients undergoing bone marrow transplant, pediatric oncology patients undergoing T-cell therapy, and adult oncology patients undergoing immunotherapy and chemotherapy. Her interests include nutrition support and pediatrics.
     
  • Silvia Figueiroa, MS, RD, CNSC
    Silvia provides clinical nutrition services for surgical oncology patients. Her special interests include nutrition support, critical care, and gastroenterology.
     
  • Sarah Henke, RD, CNSC
    Sarah provides clinical nutrition services for patients with inherited immune-deficiencies and blood cancers undergoing bone marrow transplant, chemotherapy, and immunotherapy regimens. Her interests include nutrition through the life cycle and nutrition support.
     
  • Rachael Lopez, MPH, RD, CSO
    Rachael provides clinical and research nutrition services for surgical oncology patients. She specializes in nutrition after total gastrectomy.
     
  • Jennifer Myles, MS, RD 
    Jennifer provides clinical and research nutrition services for a wide variety of immunology, neurology, behavioral, endocrinology, and genetics protocols. She specializes in pediatrics.
     
  • Madeline Michael, MPH, RD
    Madeline is the Chief of the Clinical Nutrition and Research Section and provides nutrition care to pediatric patients enrolled in NIAID clinical trials. Her special interests include pediatric nutrition, nutrition support, and information technology.
     
  • Megan Schoenfeld, RD
    Megan provides clinical and research nutrition services for genetics, endocrinology, hepatology, pulmonary, and behavior health patients. Her interests include weight management, nonalcoholic fatty liver disease, and diabetes.
     
  • Stacie Townsend, MS, RD, CNSC
    Stacie is the Lead Clinical Dietitian and the department's nutrition support specialist. She provides clinical nutrition services for patients in the critical care unit. She is Co-chair of the Nutrition Subcommittee of the NIH Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee.
     
  • Kirsten Zambell, PhD, RD
    Kirsten provides clinical nutrition services for adult patients enrolled in clinical trials focused on allergy and infectious disease, sickle cell anemia, and arthritis and musculoskeletal disorders. Her interests include training interns, students, and volunteers.
     

Our Metabolic Research Dietitians are:

  • Lindsay Herra, MS, RD
    Lindsay oversees daily operations and quality control in the Metabolic Kitchen and provides nutrition research services. Lindsay is also a member of the NIH CC Green Team.
     
  • Merel Kozlosky, MS, RD
    Merel manages metabolic nutrition research services as well as Metabolic Kitchen operations and staff.  She oversees educational opportunities for students and dietetic interns.  She also provides coverage and support to the Chief of the Clinical Nutrition and Research Section.
     
  • Gabrielle Parisi MS, RD, CNSC [C]
    Gabrielle provides nutrition research services, including planning metabolic diets and collecting anthropometric and dietary assessment data.
     
  • Sara Turner, MPH, RD
    Sara provides nutrition research services in the areas of metabolic diets, dietary assessment, and body composition assessment for studies related to the Metabolic Clinical Research Unit.
     
  • Shanna Yang, MPH, RD
    Shanna provides nutrition research services in the areas of metabolic diets, dietary assessment, and body composition assessment for studies related to the Metabolic Clinical Research Unit.
     

Clinical and Metabolic Health Technicians

Clinical and Metabolic Health Technicians provide support to patients who require special nutrition assistance due to research or clinical needs. They assist with research support, patient education, menu selections, nutritional supplements, special diets, and calorie counts. They can also help you contact a staff dietitian.
